Right, it might not be Christmas time right now, but it’s always some season, right? And if you’re like me, you want to carry at least a little bit of that yuletide spirit with you all year long.
And that’s what this site — Unwrap Christmas — is all about.
But let me back up for a second and say…
Hi, I’m Foster. And, probably like you, I love all the colors, lights, warmth, and pageantry of Christmas. Always have.
Growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, we might not always have had the biggest trees or the most expensive gifts, but man, did we have the Christmas magic!
From glistening lights to caroling on the street corner to picking out our Christmas tree to snowy country rides by sleigh or car or snowmobile, we were one lucky bunch of kids.
I want to bring at least some of that magic back into the modern world with this little corner of the web, so you’ll find plenty of nostalgia here.
But I’m also fascinated by the history of the Christmas icons we all know and love.
Why is the holiday season filled with the sound of so many bells, for example? And when did Santa start employing elves? Or meet Mrs. Claus?
And what’s the true story of Christmas, from a historical, biblical and/or pagan standpoint.
Those are all topics I plan to dive into at some point on this site.
For now, though…welcome!
And rest assured that you’re in the company of someone who loves hanging stockings and watching for Santa out a frost-encrusted window just as much as you do.
